Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas Gov., lashed out at Sen. Mitt Romney after the Utah Republican said that he was “sickened” by the level of dishonesty from President Donald Trump’s administration in response to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s redacted report into the Russian interference in 2016 election.
Huckabee had tweeted on Friday, “You know what makes me sick, Mitt? It’s not how disingenuous you were to take @realDonaldTrump $$ and then four years later jealously trash him & then love him again when you begged to be Sec of State, but what makes me sick is that you got GOP nomination and could have been @POTUS” .
Romney had tweeted earlier in the day that it was a good news that there isn’t sufficient evidence to charge Trump with collusion or obstruction of justice. The former GOP 2012 presidential candidate blasted Trump and his campaign for having contacts with Russians.
“I’m extremely sickened at the pervasiveness as well as the extent of misdirection and dishonesty by individuals in the highest office of the land, including Donald Trump”, Romney posted on Twitter.
Mueller’s much awaited report was released on Thursday morning and contains around 900 redactions. It showed that investigators found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. It couldn’t be concluded whether Trump’s actions amounted to obstruction.
Huckabee, the father of White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, ran against Romney for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination.
Romney and Trump’s contentious relationship has been very well documented, with both of them having exchanged congratulations and insults over the past few years.
